COMPULSORY MECHANICAL LICENSE |
| A license provided by the U.S. Copyright Law allowing anyone to record a song that has previously been commercially recorded with authorization, as long as they pay at least the royalties set by the Copyright Royalty Board. The current royalty rate is 9.1 cents per song per each recording unit made and distributed, or 1.75ยข for each minute of playing time, whichever is greater. |
